2009-2011
Fred
My father Fred died in May 2009. Fred Bushe OBE, RSA was at the forefront of modernist sculpture and set up the Scottish Sculpture Workshop in Aberdeenshire in the late 1970s. Fred’s ambition was to create a space where anyone, whether professional, a student or an amateur could make large scale sculpture within a supportive collaborative environment. But he was mostly my Dad and he had his demons. It took me until late 2009 to process how to deal with the loss and his presence and form started to appear in my drawings and paintings; a series of reimagined pictorial conversations between myself and my father.
