1993-1999
Aberdeen

In 1993, I became a full time painting lecturer at Gray’s School of Art in Aberdeen. A new lyricism and use of colour emerged and I started to make work with more pathos and myth. My second solo show at the Scottish Gallery in 1994 was made up of large scale oils and small watercolours. Inevitably I became more embroiled in institutional procedures and it became harder to focus on my painting and I made work in spurts.
